Mike Leach and Larry Scott meet in El Paso

Washington State head coach Mike Leach and Miami interim-head coach Larry Scott met Monday in El Paso, Texas.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

With 12 days to go before the Cougars and the Hurricanes meet up to play in the Hyundai Sun Bowl on Dec. 26 in El Paso, Texas, the coaches got together Monday. Mike Leach and Miami interim-head coach, Larry Scottmet in El Paso for the introductory press conference.

When talking about what it means for their teams to make the Sun Bowl, both of the coaches had very different responses, but responded just as you would expect them to. From Leach, he talks of his previous coaching experiences in El Paso and says, "It's a cool atmosphere, a cool vibe. It's like football in the middle of a Western. You're waiting for something, cowboys, Indians, outlaws, to come over the ridge" and of course tops it all off with, "And the food in El Paso is great."

Scott had a response more fitting for him as he said, "It's all about tradition, it's an opportunity to play in one of the oldest bowl games. It's tradition meets tradition. It's an opportunity for out tradition-rich program to play in a tradition-rich bowl."

The two coaches will head home and continue to prepare their teams to head back next Monday to start their bowl week.
