With The Sun Bowl fast approaching, the final deadline for making (even slightly affordable) travel arrangements is nearing... And it seems like many Cougar fans have decided to skip to trip to El Paso this season.
At the last update, the Cougars have sold roughly 1,900 tickets for the day after Christmas game. The university was given an allotment of 6,000 tickets, putting them roughly a third of the way to their goal.
The school says that they're about where they thought they would be. "Once we knew the date was going to be the day after Christmas, we knew that it would eliminate some fans," Paul Finn, WSU's assistant athletic director for ticket sales told the Seattle Times. "I really think what moves tickets for bowl games is first, the date of the game, second, the location and third the matchup."
2 years ago, the team pre-sold 2,500 tickets for the New Mexico Bowl, compared to just 600 this season. Overall, WSU sold over 4,500 tickets for the New Mexico Bowl.
Fans can still buy tickets for December 26th on the WSU website here. If you can't make the game, you can buy a ticket a donate it to a good cause. For more information on buying tickets, we wrote up a good rundown here.
