Riley Sorenson hit with tragedy moments before Sun Bowl

WSU center Riley Sorenson was getting ready to reap the benefits of all his hard work when coaches pulled him aside shortly before the game: His father had just suffered a heart attack coming into the stadium.

According to a Go Fund Me page set up by the Sun Bowl to benefit the Sorenson family, Bart Sorenson was transported to a local hospital and underwent emergency surgery, and he remains there in a medically induced coma.

Rather than getting to return to Pullman with his teammates, Sorenson remains in El Paso. And this isn't the first challenge Sorenson has faced, according to the page: His mom, Karen, has been battling stage four cancer.

The Go Fund Me campaign is only seven hours old but has already raised more than $17,000 to help defray whatever medical or travel/lodging costs the Sorensons incur during this most difficult time.
