Early odds for the Sun Bowl were released today and Washington State, likely to have starting quarterback Luke Falk back behind center, opened as a slight favorite over Miami, according to Vegas Insider.
The line opened with the Cougs as a 1.5 point favorite against the Hurricanes in El Paso, but it has since jumped to 2.5. Shortly after the line was released, it quickly moved to four points in favor of the Cougs, then moved between two and three before settling with a 2.5 point spread as of tonight.
With both teams possessing above average offenses and, at times, somewhat vulnerable defenses, Vegas set the original over-under at 61 points, though that has since moved to 63, which sounds about right.
The Cougs have covered in nine of 12 games this season and in every game away from Martin Stadium except for that one game that was played a little over a week ago in Seattle. With a little under three weeks left prior to the game, and definitive injury situations still to be sorted out, this spread is bound to change, so we'll keep an eye on it.
What do you think of the early spread? Go Cougs!
