We all know by now Mike Leach likes his linemen big so they can fill those wide splits on their own. Leach certainly got another one of those prototypes as Cedric Bigge-Duren faxed in his letter of intent today.
At 6-foot-6 and 307 pounds, Duren fits that offensive line type perfectly. He's tall and his frame could probably support another 20-30 pounds or so. Like most offensive linemen though, expect Duren to spend a year in the Northside Cafe and the weight room under the keen eye of Washington State strength coaches. With the entire offensive line and most of their depth back for the 2015 after a lot of improvement in 2014, if Duren sees the field this year, WSU will have bigger problems than a freshman offensive lineman playing.
Quick evaluation from Brian Anderson:
The kid finishes plays. Pass blocking or run blocking, the defender is on his back over half the time. Beast on the run block, great athleticism for his frame, pulled on counters and dominated like you'd expect a guy with his size to do. Decent footwork in pass blocking, passed off defenders well and was able to slide where he needed to. Some of those kids put on skates were lucky there was a whistle, Cedric could've sat them right on the bleachers next to their moms.
Duren's also received offers in his recruitment from Montana, Nevada and San Jose State.
