Signing day was nearly a month ago but things apparently aren't over for the 2015 recruiting class at WSU: Safety Hunter Dale from New Orleans, La., is committing to the Cougs. The news was first reported by WGSO Sports Director Ken Trahan.
Dale is a consensus three-star prospect and the No. 37 safety prospect in the 2015 class. His offer sheet reads like a who's who of college football and it's plenty long so we'll just give you the highlights: both Arizonas, Florida, Miami, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oregon, Nebraska, Notre Dame, UCLA and Utah among others. Dale was also committed to Nebraska for a cup of coffee last summer before decommitting. New defensive coordinator Alex Grinch recruited Dale while he was at Missouri, according to Britton Ransford at WazzuWatch, and it looks like his continued pursuit of Dale has paid off.
Dale is listed at about six feet tall and 185 pounds but if his junior highlight video is any indication, he hits a heck of a lot harder than his weight might indicate. You can see him come up in run support as well, closing down on the ball carrier quickly and wrapping him up with a good tackle.
Dale is also a top baseball prospect and may end up playing both sports at WSU so this is a big day for both Mike Leach and Donnie Marbut.
Here's his senior highlight video as well, lighter on the big hits but good looks at his speed.
