WSU football recruiting: 3-star 2016 QB Ian Book commits to WSU

The quarterback from El Dorado Hills will spend his college years in Pullman.

The first commitment for Mike Leach's 2016 recruiting class is, as you might expect, a quarterback. Senior-to-be quarterback Ian Book gave his verbal commitment to Washington State today. Lars Hanson of 247 Sports was the first to report Book's commitment.

Each service considers Book a three-star commit. The El Dorado Hills, Calif. quarterback also received offers from UNLV, Idaho and Boise State among others during his recruiting cycle. Both Rivals and 247 have Book highly rated; respectively pegging him as the No. 19 and No. 20 pro-style quarterback in the 2016 recruiting class.

Mike Leach likes to get a quarterback in each recruiting class so locking down one of the best in the 2016 class early is a big get for the staff. Book looks like he has good zip on his passes, nice touch on throws to the outside shoulder and gets rid of the ball quickly. I'm just not sure how great he is at reading a defense.

Awful puns aside, getting a quarterback early in the 2016 recruiting cycle is a big worry Mike Leach and staff can check off now Between Falk, Bender, Hilinski and Book, the Cougs are going to have an awful lot of young quarterbacks on the roster for quite a while.
