The first episode of WSU Football's youtube video series was a highlight of the 2014 season, episode two provided a glimpse into the offseason training regimen. "The Grind: Part 2" was uploaded July 22nd and helps to catch us up on what the Cougs have been doing this summer.

In case you missed the first episode like I did you can find it at the bottom of the article. I am no strength coach and have spent very little time in the gym so my analysis of this video goes pretty much as far as "those guys can run fast in sand". However, there is one thing about this video that concerns me gravely.

Why are some of the players wearing socks in the sandpit? Sockwearers are not in the majority here (thank god) but there are some, and that alone is troubling. Once you take the socks into the sand they will have sand in them the rest of the day. It could be that the sandpit is the last workout of the day and players change socks after that regardless. But I presume the other options are working out in sandy socks from that point on, or changing into a new pair.

Now for full disclosure, yes I have traversed many a beach in closed toe shoes with socks. But that was a preventative measure against sand. We all know, once the shoes come off you are inviting the sand into your socks and onto your feet.

Overall, its nice to be able to have a looksee into what the team has been up to this summer, even if the music seems a tad dramatic. The clip ends with an eery "To be Continued" so we will be treated to at least one more episode.
