WSU football recruiting: Bellevue athlete Justus Rogers commits to Cougs

The quarterback of the state's football powerhouse has given his commitment to Washington State.

The Cougs are, comparative to other classes recent anyhow, piling up the commitments from the state of Washington. The latest comes today from Bellevue High School quarterback Justus Rogers, as first reported by Cougfan.com. Washington State was Rogers' only offer and the consensus three-star athlete gave his verbal pledge to the Cougs today.

Rogers is in his senior season for the Wolverines and although he's playing quarterback for Bellevue, I doubt that's what he'll be playing once he gets to Pullman. WSU already has their quarterback for this class (Cody Brewer) and actually has a commitment from another dual-threat quarterback that they'll likely expect to play elsewhere (D'Jimon Jones) so expect Rogers to play receiver, safety or, if he puts a couple more pounds on, linebacker.

The 6'2", 215 pound quarterback has long strides and seems to be adept at breaking tackles. Once he really gets up to speed, which looks like it takes a step or two, he's coming at you like a ton of bricks and uses his size to bowl over defenders to pick up an extra yards or two. He's got a good arm and it's never bad to have an emergency quarterback on your roster, which he certainly could be once he's in Pullman.

Overall, a really nice pick up for Mike Leach and company, especially from a school that's normally a recruiting hot bed for other schools in the conference. Also of note: this is the fourth player from Washington to commit to the 2016 class.
