One of WSU football’s most decorated athletes will be back in Pullman Saturday. Mike Utley will be honored for being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame during the Cougs game against UCLA.

WSU is teaming with the National Football Foundation to present an On-Campus Salute to Utley. This tradition is part of the experience of being inducted to the hall of fame, and has been done since 1951. Additionally, WSU will receive a plaque from the NFF to honor Utley’s accomplishment.

The former offensive lineman played for WSU from 1985-1988, and collected many accolades during his career. Utley was named All Pac-10 three times, and was a first team All-American in 1988. The same year the, Utley helped to lead WSU to its first bowl victory since 1916.

"Washington State University and head coach Jim Walden gave me an opportunity and I told him I would give 100 percent of myself. Playing for the Cougars was a wonderful experience and hopefully I've been able to pay it forward," Utley said in a release.

Utley will join fellow Cougs Glen Edwards, Mel Hein, and Rueben Mayes in the hall.
