Apple Cup 2016 tickets sold out, WSU football announces

There isn't an empty seat in the house available for the annual clash between the Cougs and Huskies.

James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

An early start the day after Thanksgiving be damned, apparently, because there won't be an empty seat in the house when the Washington Huskies travel east to play the Washington St. Cougars.

The match-up got substantially more appealing in the last 72 hours with the Huskies toppling Stanford and the Cougs marching past the Oregon Ducks so even though the news comes as a surprise today, it's not much of one ... if that makes a lick of sense.

Depending on what happens this weekend, both FBS teams in this state could be firmly in control of the Pac-12 North and up at least a game and a half on the nearest opponent. There's still an awful lot of games to go between now and then but getting a jump on tickets seemed a smart thing to do for many.

The last time these teams met in Pullman, the temperature registered just 3 degrees at game time. Something a little warmer would do nicely this time, thank you.
