Gary Andersen in snit over innocous Mike Leach comments

Oregon State head coach inexplicably goes off.

Mike Leach held his usual press conference on Monday to discuss the Cougars win over Oregon State on Saturday. When asked about the Cougars talent level relative to Oregon State Leach had this to say.

Seems like the coach was just making sure his team couldn’t use any excuses for their first half performance on Saturday right?

Well apparently the head coach of Oregon State Gary Andersen saw it differently. The top Beaver went off on John Canzano’s radio show yesterday. This is what he had to say.

It sounds like Andersen thought Leach was trying to inflate his own ego.....which is odd. Leach’s argument about the teams talent actually holds up as the Spokesman’s Jacob Thorpe astutely points out.

This could make for an interesting post-game handshake next year. Leach is no stranger to those as we’ve seen with Paul Petrino and Todd Graham. And what the hey spicing up a northwest rivalry is always a positive in my book.

When Mike Leach said Oregon State was "an explosive team" and "every bit as talented as we are" during Washington State’s weekly Monday press conference, it seemed like the sort of innocuous compliment coaches routinely give each other’s teams over the course of a season.
