Joe Dahl ready to take the field for NFL Combine

The only Cougar to get an invite to Indianapolis will officially begin the NFL Combine tomorrow.

James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

Five Cougars have declared themselves for the NFL draft, but only one will be in Indianapolis this week for the 2016 NFL Combine.

Joe Dahl has spent much of the past month training in California for what may end up being the most important week in his football career. He has arrived at Lucas Oil Stadium and tells Stephanie Loh of the Seattle Times that the workouts are the least of his worries this week because he's practiced them so much. "The whole challenge lies in the job interviews with the teams."

The events start today in earnest for a group including offensive linemen, running backs and special teams players. The players will undergo medical examinations, get their measurements taken, talk to the media and interview with teams.

Thursday includes more of the same. More team interviews, more evaluations (this time psychological testing), a meeting with the NFLPA and the bench press portion of the workout. The combine wraps up Friday for Dahl's group with the on-field workout.

Dahl's prepared for the mental and physical aspects of the combine and he's also prepared to move his position. While he finished the year at tackle, Loh reports, that he's ready to play his original position at guard, or even move to center. "I’ve worked on some snapping here and there, but I’ve never taken live reps at center," Dahl said. "I think I possess the ability to play anywhere."

The NFL Network will have Combine coverage all week and you can see live coverage of the offensive line workout Friday from 6 AM to 1 PM pacific.
