Offensive lineman Liam Ryan has officially signed with Washington State after sending his national letter of intent Wednesday.
ESPN is the lone recruiting service to give Ryan a third star, while Rivals, Scout and 24/7 Sports have Ryan ranked as a two-star prospect. Ryan held scholarship offers from several FBS and FCS schools including Air Force, Nevada and San Jose State. He was recruited by offensive line coach Clay McGuire, who is known to be an excellent recruiter in the Southern California region, and Ryan gave his verbal during his official visit back in December.
Ryan has the frame to get much bigger once summer workouts begin, and will almost certainly be given a redshirt during his first year in Pullman. He's listed at 6-foot-6, but only weighs 270 pounds, so he definitely can afford to put on 30-40 extra pounds during his redshirt season. If Ryan is able to pack on the weight and impresses during Thursday Night Football, he could go into the 2017 spring camp looking to win a starting position, as center Riley Sorenson and guard Eduardo Middleton will be on their way out after graduation.
Brian Anderson's quick scouting report
Another guy that puts his "nasty" on tape, takes everything to the whistle. Really good footwork in his set, moves well with a pass rusher, and utilizes his hands really well too. Showed a lot of strength for 270 lbs, which could turn out to be fairly impressive after his RS weight gain.
