WSU vs ASU: Preview, game thread, schedule, TV and online streaming info

The Cougs hope to snap their losing streak against Arizona State this afternoon. Talk about it here!

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

This afternoon, your Washington State Cougars take their 9-13 record and eight-game losing streak and welcome Bobby Hurley and the Arizona State Sun Devils at Friel Court at 3:30 p.m.

The game will has been relegated to the Pac-12 Networks and can be streamed live on the Pac-12 App and  You can also listen to the WSU radio broadcast on

The aforementioned eight-game losing streak included a stop in Tempe where these Sun Devils handed the Cougs an 84-73 loss on January 14thTra Holder led the Sun Devils with 20 points, Kodi Justice had 16 points and Willie Atwood added another 15 to lead ASU in a game where they held a double digit lead for the final 26 minutes.

Today, WSU's biggest focus will again be on Holder, who is adept at creating his own shot, getting to the free throw line and is also ranked nationally in assist rate.  The Sun Devils made ten three-pointers another thirty free throws in the first matchup against the Cougs, which accounted for 3/4ths of their scoring.   It'll be up to the Cougar perimeter defense to force ASU to take lower-value shots, as last time the Sun Devils only shot 38% from the field and still managed to tally 84 points.

And the question that has been asked for the entirety of the losing streak remains:  Will big Valentine Izundu get back into the game for the Cougs?  A shot-blocking force like Val for twenty minutes could be the difference in a game where WSU might have its best shot at snapping their losing streak for a couple weeks.

Neither of these teams do anything particularly well, so it will be imperative for the Cougs to take care of the basketball.  Arizona State is 11th in TO% forced in the conference, but were still able to take the ball away from WSU 16 times in their last matchup.   ASU allows an alarming 1.11 points per possession (11th in the conference), yet WSU was only able to muster 0.96 the last time around.   The win is ripe for the taking this afternoon, it'll be up to WSU to show up and take care of business. rates Hurley's squad as the 75th best team in the country and projects a 77-75 victory for the visitors with a 57% confidence.  Vegas isn't much different, giving the Cougs two points, with an over/under of 153.

This page will also serve as your game thread for this afternoon so feel free to cheer along with us here.

Go Cougs!
