WSU DB Calvin Green suspended indefinitely

Mike Leach told the media after practice today that the defensive back is suspended indefinitely from the team.

After WSU's Thursday spring practice, Mike Leach told Jacob  Thorpe of the Spokerman Review that defensive back Calvin Green has been indefinitely suspended from the team. Thorpe ays that although Green isn't on the spring roster, he may be able to make his way back onto the team by meeting certain guidelines set forth by the coaches.

This isn't coming from out of the blue; you'll recall Green's run in with Pullman police earlier this month when he was charged with hit-and-run and reckless endangerment. Green didn't violate one of Leach's three rails that get you kicked off the team, no questions asked, but the offense was likely deemed serious enough for his current punishment. We'll never know for sure though since coaches and athletic department spokespersons don't go into detail on these matters.

So what does this do for the spring depth chart? Not much, really. Green moved to defensive back last year and played in nine games, starting in just one (the Sun Bowl) and he likely wouldn't have been working with the ones anyhow with the amount of talent in the defensive backfield. Things are so crowded at cornerback in fact, Charleston White has been working at safety in an effort to just get all the talent they have available on the field.  This is one of the perks of being in the positions the Cougs are right now: one departure doesn't have to tremendous of an effect on any position.

Hopefully for Green he can work his way back onto the team this summer but for now, without him, things should be just fine.
