It wasn't that long ago that Washington State had what Mike Leach described as, and I'm paraphrasing, "six guys who were worthy of a scholarship on the offensive line". Things weren't good anywhere when Paul Wulff was fired but the offensive line had a hard time stopping my three-month old nephew, let alone a Pac-12 defensive lineman or linebacker.
Oh, how the times have changed for the better.
WSU senior center Riley Sorenson was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list, the award for the best center in college football. The 6'4", 327 pound senior will anchor an offensive line replacing its entire left side, including All Pac-12 selection and 5th round NFL Draft pick Joe Dahl. This will be Sorenson's third season as WSU's center with 21 starts under his belt going all the way back to his sophomore season. That experience will be vital for the Cougs if they want to build on the success of the offense last season.
Preseason watch lists are going to start coming out more frequently as the spring wears into the summer so don't be surprised to see a lot more Cougs make appearances. Man, this is really neato, ain't it?
