Gabe Marks named to Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List

Is anybody surprised?

Gabriel Marks a.k.a. @ThrowItUpTo9 a.k.a. the Menace (to DBs) from Venice has been named to the 2016 Biletnikoff Award Watch List. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few seasons watching Washington State run the Air-Raid Offense, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes the “most outstanding” receiver in all of college football. Last season Marks, Dom Williams, and River Cracraft were all named to the watch list.

In his excellent 2015 season, Marks caught 104 passes for 1,196 yards. His 15 touchdowns are a WSU single-season record. Marks also earned All Pac-12 First Team honors and announced he’d return for his senior season when it seemed likely he’d make a nice mid-draft selection for any NFL franchise.

Marks was one of ten semifinalists for the Biletnikoff last year but lost out to Baylor’s Corey Coleman who won the award. The year before Vince Mayle was a semifinalist but Alabama’s Amari Cooper was named the winner.

The Biletnikoff Award is named after Fred Biletnikoff, a former Florida State wide receiver who went on to play with the Oakland Raiders professionally. The award is presented by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation and is voted on by a national committee, along with an online fan vote that plays a small portion in the voting results.
