Josh Hawkinson and Junior Longrus were two of the players that led the Cougs on the court last season, but yesterday, the pair was honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches for their work off the court.

The 2016 graduate, Longrus, and the returning senior, Hawkinson, were named to the NABC Honor Court. The award honors student-athletes who are a junior or senior academically and hold a 3.2 GPA or higher in the class room. Longrus earned the award last season, while this will be the first honor for Hawkinson.

Longrus graduated from WSU at the end of the 2016 season with a double major in management operations and accounting. During his time on the team, he was also named to 3 Pac-12 all-academic teams. Longrus is still in Pullman this year, pursuing his MBA degree and working as the basketball team's graduate manager.

Hawkinson, a management operations major, has been named to the Pac-12 all-academic team twice, holding a 3.33 GPA in classroom. On the court, the Shoreline native holds a perfect 4.0 DDPA, which stands for "double-double point average" a stat that I just made up. Last year, he averaged 15.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game and started all but one of their matchups.
