WSU lost to an FCS team for the second year in a row.

James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning. When I started writing for CougCenter in 2014, Mark Sandritter sent some guidelines along for the HCA posts. One of them was that it should be a minimum of 150 words. So what I'm going to do is copy/paste two sentences until I meet the minimum.

WSU lost to an FCS team for the second year in a row. Nobody will be held accountable. WSU lost to an FCS team for the second year in a row. Nobody will be held accountable. WSU lost to an FCS team for the second year in a row. Nobody will be held accountable.

Eastern Washington pulls off big upset over Washington State | The Spokesman-Review
Saturday’s 45-42 loss to EWU was WSU’s second consecutive season-opening loss to an FCS team from the Big Sky. Once again, a first-time starting quarterback came into Martin Stadium and made Cougars defenders look silly.

WSU-EWU notebook: Gabe Marks says team needs to find own identity | The Spokesman-Review
Eastern Washington’s offensive line – perhaps the most scrutinized unit on the team this year – got off to a pretty decent start. The young Eagles linemen blocked for an offense that rolled up 606 yards – 17th most in school history. The previous record was 518 – in another landmark win, the 49-46 defeat of Oregon State in 2013.

Beer

Best beer I had this week: Had a lot of good beer during the course of the long weekend. Plan to have a lot more because my favorite team sucks again. The leader so far is probably Heavy Seas Blackbeard's Breakfast. Also had a Heavy Seas TropiCannon Citrus IPA that was quite tasty. Heavy Seas is appropriate for this weekend, since our coach is Mr. Pirate /drink and our sports lives as WSU fans are a series of ups and downs, almost all downs.
