At least one Cougar stood out during the Holiday Bowl

Lewis named to all-bowl team.

During WSU’s dreadful performance on the offensive side of the ball in the 17-12 loss to Minnesota in the Holiday Bowl there was at least one standout. Junior wide receiver Robert Lewis had one of his best games of his career. For this accomplishment he managed to make San Jose Mercury News Pac-12 writer emeritus Jon Wilner’s all-bowl team for the Pac-12.

Here is what Wilner had to say about Lewis.

No other Cougars made the bowl team although some of the defensive players may have had an argument, although the Cougars are probably lucky to get one player on this squad after that performance against an under-manned Minnesota team. This could be a turning point in the career of Lewis, who Cougar fans have been waiting for a long time to break out after he was one of Mike Leach’s first recruits. The ESPNU 4 star had the high school nickname of the "human joystick" and was touted as a big play guy in the slot. With the graduation of River Cracraft, he should get plenty of opportunities in the middle of the field next year. Hopefully he will make his senior campaign a big one.
