WSU vs #15 Oregon: Preview, game thread, schedule, TV and online streaming info

The Cougs welcome the touted Ducks to Pullman for a game this afternoon. Talk about it here!

NCAA Basketball: Washington State at Washington Jennifer Buchanan-USA TODAY Sports

Tonight, your Washington State Cougars and their FOUR game winning streak come home to find one of the best teams in the country in the Oregon Ducks to join them on their court. The game will tip off at Beasley Coliseum at 4 PM PDT. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks and also streamed at pac12.com.

The Cougs and Ducks will be competing for eyeballs with the Seahawks playoff game, but the match-up does feature two teams that are currently 5-0 in conference and two teams that were once coached by Ernie Kent.

The Ducks hold a 166-124 all time series advantage including the last two straight. Ernie Kent was last able to best his former team in January 2015.

Oregon is ranked #15 in the country in the AP Poll, #14 in the Coach's Poll, #20 on KenPom's laptop and #1 on teams you don’t want to see when you’re trying to build up confidence in your newfound 2-0 record.

Can the Cougs pull off the upset? Probably not, but let's go over what this team does well anyway: Oregon give 8 or 9 players serious minutes so individual stats do not depict how dangerous this team truly is. The Ducks run about a third of its plays through Forward Dilon Brooks (when on the court), averaging 14.3 points in just 21 minutes per game, and another quarter of its offense through 6’10” Center Chris Boucher, also averaging 13 points and 7 in about 25 minutes per game. Brooks had 23 points knocking off UCLA last week before the team consecutively routed #22 USC and Washington.

Oregon’s lineup rounds out with Jordan Bell, Tyler Dorsey, Payton Pritchard and Dylan Ennis, who all boast KenPom ORtg’s of over 110. Good luck, Cougar defense!.

Over the first week of the conference season, the surprising 2-0 Cougs are a fun story, but I think we all expect reality to crash down when the best team the Cougs have played this season (depending on what you think of Creighton) gets rolling. Combine this with a student section that is still on Christmas break, this game at Beasley could get ugly quickly.

Pomeroy projects Oregon to win this game 75-64 with an 85% confidence. Vegas has the Ducks as a 15 point favorite with a 140.5 O/U, which means the computers value the Cougs(!!!)

This page will also serve as your game thread for this evening so feel free to cheer for the upset along with the rest of us here. Also, please place your predictions on whether the final score differential will be higher or lower than the final football result in the comment section.

Go Cougs!
