Washington State football legend Jack Thompson will now have his name in one more spot in the Cougar Football Complex. It was announced on Monday that there was a donation of $500,000 by three donors to name the Gray W Jack Thompson Legends Lounge. Thompson was in Pullman on Monday for the announcement and naming.

Glenn Osterhout, Greg Rankich, and a third anonymous donor had the goal of honoring a Cougar legend with their donation. Osterhout says in this release by WSU Sports Communications that he has hopes that his donation will “inspire others to consider naming opportunities in the Cougar Football Complex, Baseball Clubhouse and the Indoor Practice facility.”

This is not Osterhout’s first donation to name a room. Back in August he donated $250,000 to change the name of the recruiting suite to the Steve Gleason Recruit Suite.

Thompson was the Cougars quarterback from 1975-78 and set many team, conference, and NCAA records. In total, he threw for 7,818 yard and 53 touchdowns which were, at the time, the Pac-10 records. He had a five-year career in the NFL and is one of the two Cougars to have their football number retired.
