WSU football recruiting: Four-star WR Jamire Calvin flips from Nebraska, signs with Wazzu

Moments ago at a National Signing Day ceremony at Cathedral High School in Los Angeles, Calif., four-star wide receiver Jamire Calvin flipped his commitment from Nebraska to Washington State by officially faxing his letter of intent to WSU.

Calvin — rated the No. 44 overall receiver prospect in the country by the 24/7 Sports Composite — signs with WSU over Oregon State, Oregon, Alabama, Notre Dame and the Cornhuskers, to whom he committed over WSU on Twitter less than a week ago.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pound receiver was one of the most sought-after recruits in the West and becomes one of the prizes of this WSU recruiting class which, prior to today, lacked that immediate impact, high profile receiving prospect they coveted this cycle.

Calvin, recruited primarily by area recruiter Roy Manning, is as polished of a receiver as they come at the prep level. As a senior, the Army All-American hauled in 86 receptions for 1,312 yards and 14 touchdowns. He totaled 26 touchdowns over two varsity years.

Washington State, having already signed Anthony White Jr., Easop Winston, Travell Harris and Davontavean Martin, now has five receiver signees in this class, which is what we expected. White and Winston are enrolled and will participate in spring practices.

The WSU class now sits at 25 with Kelle Sanders and Dontae Powell still yet to fax in their letters of intent. This post will be updated with additional details on this huge sign for the WSU staff.
