When CBS unveils the 2017 NCAA tournament bracket today at 2:30 p.m. PDT, WSU will once again not be part of the festivities. (You can also watch the reveal online at NCAA.com.) That doesn’t mean, however, that we don’t want to talk about it!
So, let’s have a discussion thread. First off, here are some resources to prep you:
SB Nation bracketologist Chris Dobbertean weighed in this morning with his semi-final thoughts on the bracket, with the hot debate at the moment centered around Duke, which stormed its way through the ACC tournament.
One thing working against Duke is the fact that no eight-loss team has ever been placed on the bracket’s top line. But since it looks like the 2017 bracket will be the first to include a 15-loss at-large squad, the Vanderbilt Commodores, it might just be the year when the Selection Committee throws precedent out the window.
Dobbertean also had a look at the bubble, which includes the aforementioned Commordores. He thinks they’re in, along with Providence, Syracuse and USC.
If you’re into crowdsourced projections, the Bracket Matrix is a good place to bone up on the likeliest field, which does differ a bit from Dobbertean.
When the show starts, a great way to follow along is with SB Nation’s live-updating bracket. It’s pretty slick!
And if you’re old school, you can fill in your own bracket by printing out this blank one.
Also don’t forget to join our bracket challenge!
Ok, that’s enough. Discuss away below.
