Former WSU Cougar basketball player Lavar Ball had a rather undistinguished career in the Palouse as he averaged 2.2 points per game and 2.3 rebounds for game in the 1987-88 season under then-coach Kelvin Sampson. Ball is, however, unexpectedly now in the national spotlight due to his son Lonzo Ball being one of the best players in the country.
The senior Ball has been very involved in Lonzo and his other highly recruited sons' basketball successes, and he is therefore being contacted by the media quite a bit. In some of these interviews, he has quite a few interesting things to say.
His most infamous comment concerns all-time great Michael Jordan who Ball had this to say about.
Back in my heyday, I would kill Michael Jordan one-on-one.
He then talked about his endorsement expectations for his sons.
A billion dollars, it has to be there. That’s our number, a billion, straight out of the gate. And you don’t even have to give it to me all up front. Give us $100 mil over 10 years.
He also has claimed that his son is better that Steph Curry
"He’s better than Steph Curry to me," LaVar said. "Put Steph Curry on UCLA’s team right now, and put my boy on Golden State and watch what happens."
Naturally the internet is having a hoot over these comments. Here are some of the best memes and comments created so far.
