Cougar baseball to host Gonzaga

Gonzaga makes the hour and a half trip south to Pullman

After falling just one game short of sweeping the University of Washington this past weekend, the Washington State baseball team will host the Gonzaga Bulldogs (24-14) on Tuesday evening at 5:00 pm at Bailey-Brayton Field. The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.

This will be the second time these teams will match up this season with the first meeting taking place last week in Spokane. The Cougars (18-19) fell behind early in the game and eventually ended up trailing by 8 runs in the ninth inning. With the help of a two-run double and a error, they scored 3 but were unable to get anymore runs across as they fell 9-4.

A.J. Block will be on the mound for the Cougars and will get his 6th start of the season. Block is still looking for his first win of the year, he has maintained a 5.56 ERA and has totaled 19 K's while giving up 26 hits and 16 runs. He will be facing Daniel Bies who has a 4.56 ERA and a 2-2 record for the Bulldogs.

The Cougars will head over to Salt Lake City for a 3-game series against Utah starting Thursday and will return home the following week to start May off with a 3-game series against Oregon. The Cougars and Bulldogs will wrap up their season series on May 16th in Spokane.
