The Washington State Cougars had a big Homecoming weekend both on and off the football field. Along with their thrilling 28-24 win over the Utah Utes, the Cougs nabbed two commits from offensive linemen for their 2019 class, including one familiar name.
Offensive linemen Dontae Powell announced over the weekend he’d be committing to the Cougs in the middle of his second season at Arizona Western.

If that name sounds familiar to you, it should. Powell had originally committed to the Cougs for their 2017 class but ended up going the junior college route instead. Usually, that’s the death knell for a player’s commitment to any school but Powell is, in fact, still headed to the Palouse. The three-star offensive lineman originally from Richland also had offers from the Louisville Cardinals and Arizona Wildcats.
Here’s some video from his first couple of games this season:
Another offensive lineman also gave his pledge to the Cougs over the weekend, actually in the middle of the game against the Utes.

Gomness is a Fresno native with offers from numerous Mountain West schools, as well as Louisville and Washington State. The 6’4”, 270 tackle is rated a three-star lineman by 247Sports.
Here are his latest highlights:
That brings the number of commits in the 2019 class to eight — nine if you count the kicker who is expected to walk on. Here’s how the class currently stands:
