WSU ranked no. 10 in AP poll, no. 11 in coaches poll

Life is good!

NCAA Football: Washington State at Stanford Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

Fresh off a come-from-behind 41-38 win over the Stanford Cardinal, the Washington State Cougars moved up four spots to no. 10 in the AP poll. The Cougs are no. 11 in the coaches poll.

Utah is the only other Pac-12 team in the AP poll. The Utes jumped seven spots to no. 16 after a dominating win over the UCLA Bruins. The Utes are also no. 16 in the coaches poll, and the Washington Huskies—unranked by the AP writers—are no. 19 in the coaches poll.

The Oregon Ducks and the Cardinal both dropped out of the polls.

The Cougs got three votes for no. 7 and the lowest they were ranked on any ballot was no. 15.

This is all good, but the rankings that actually matter will be made public on Tuesday. The College Football Playoff rankings will tell us a lot about how the committee sees WSU, assuming they can “see” them at all, given the Pac-12 Networks’ distribution and all. But I digress.

Life is good for the Cougs and their fans. They’re back in the top 10, just like last year as they began preparation for a game against Cal.

OH NO!
