Gardner Minshew II has taken the college football world by storm. His out-of-nowhere dominance, his southern twang, his love of aviators, his care-free attitude and, yes, his mustache, have vaulted him to pop culture icon status. There was just one thing missing....
....a song!
Behold, ‘The Mississippi Mustache,’ an ode to Washington State Cougars quarterback Gardner Minshew that will have you humming the chorus from now until the Apple Cup. The lyricism is outstanding. Like this:
He beat the Buffaloes and Cowboys in the high thin mountain air.
The Ducks and Beavs and Cardinal, the Wildcats and the Bears.
This isn’t just a passing phase, this isn’t just a flash.
He even got old coach Mike Leach to wear that famous ‘stache.
Who do we have to thank for this? That would be Seattle Mariners P.A. announcer Tom Hutyler.
This season has been so much fun, largely because of Minshew and his teammates. It’s just what we needed.
