The Golden State Warriors blew out the Houston Rockets by 41 points on Sunday night to take a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference Finals. What that means is Klay Thompson is now two wins away from a fourth straight appearance in the NBA Finals.
In the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics also hold a 2-1 series lead. That means Aron Baynes is also two wins away from another appearance in the NBA Finals.
Baynes and Thompson have combined to win three of the last four NBA championships and both are getting close to ensuring they make that four of the last five.
Despite both being on championship-winning teams, Baynes and Thompson have never met in the NBA playoffs. They did, however, face each other in the 2016 Olympics. Klay got the better of that matchup. And we might get the rematch in a few weeks.
