College football season is, really and truly, upon us. Just like we only need to go one more weekend without some form of NFL football in our lives, this will be your last week living without WSU football practice reports for the next four months.
WSU announced the team’s fall practice schedule today, with things kicking off Aug. 3 in Pullman. The team will make their now traditional trek about 45 minutes south to Sacajawea Junior High School the following day for a weeks worth of practices before heading back to the Palouse for the remainder of camp. That return coincides with their first scrimmage of the fall, Aug. 10 at Martin Stadium.
Good news for anyone hoping to catch a glimpse of the team in their preseason workouts: all practices before the beginning of school, including those in Lewiston, will be open to the public. Once school gets underway on Aug. 20 (the team won’t practice this day), practices will be closed for the remainder of the year.
We’ll have more on the important positional battles as fall camp gets underway but quarterback, for the first time in a number of seasons, will be the position to watch as we also get our first glimpse at East Carolina Pirates grad transfer Gardner Minshew. He’ll be competing with Trey Tinsley and Anthony Gordon to start, a battle worth watching to be sure as August rolls on.
The full schedule break down is here. The team will also announce more scrimmages as camp gets underway but expect most of them to be on Saturdays.
