The redshirt senior goalkeeper from Camarillo, California has made herself known in the Washington State record books in her three years in the net for the Cougars and has helped them reach new heights. After finishing last season with 11 shutouts Ella Dederick has made her way onto TopDrawerSoccer.com’s list of top-10 keepers for the upcoming season... again.
This is not a new achievement for her as she was named to their top-10 keepers list in 2016 after her redshirt freshman year in which she had 99 saves and 19 goals allowed and led them to 14 wins in her 20 games she appeared in.
In a list that includes Arizona keeper, Lainey Burdett, Dederick joins some of the most talented keepers in the Nation. She finished last season with All-Pac-12 third team honors and help lead the Cougars to the third round in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
After shutting out #8 UCF in the first round she stood tough in penalties in the second round against #20 Tennessee when the Cougars won 3-1 in PK’s. They came up just short in their third round loss to #16 Florida in a one goal loss in the second overtime.
After finishing last season with 65 saves and 10 wins in 22 games she has pushed herself into the top-6 in career saves, wins, minutes in goal, and goals against average in Cougar history.
Dederick and the Cougars look to keep up last season’s NCAA Tournament run when they open the season on August 17th against Seattle University in Pullman.
