Ever since his hiring in late January, WSU athletic director Pat Chun has slowly but surely been assembling an excellent group of lieutenants for the athletic department. Although it’s hard to underestimate with his CAF hire of Mitch Straub as being his most important, he has now made a couple equally if not more important hires in Bryan Blair and Chris Park.

Blair has been named as WSU’s Associate Athletic Director for Administration. He will be the primary administrator for football, swimming, tennis and track. Blair comes highly regarded from Rice University where he was the senior associate athletic director for sports administration and compliance. He also participated in the NCAA’s prestigious Pathway Program that is an intensive year long activity designed to groom future athletic directors. He was also recognized by the nationally acclaimed D1 institute as a “future leader of college sports” Blair worked for the NCAA and South Carolina before his most recent position at Rice.

Park’s title is Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations. He will be overseeing marketing, ticketing, creative services and video operations. He will also be WSU’s liason with IMG who produces the Cougars broadcasts. Park headed up UTEP’s marketing and ticketing before coming to WSU. He also had stops at Texas A&M and Texas State where he worked in similar areas. WSU certainly could use an experienced marketer so this is an exciting hire.

Once again Chun continues to impress with the outside talent he brings in. Hopefully exciting results will follow.
