Oregon State was UCLA 2 except for one major thing... WE WON!!! Welcome to Hell Week

It’s a real shame this game was regulated to the Pac-12 Network, but that’s what was expected since the beginning of the season.

What makes this suck for me is that I have DirecTV which doesn’t get the Pac-12 Network. I was at work while watching this game like a hawk hoping that the Cougs would do two things: one, become bowl eligible for a fifth consecutive season and two: dash the Beavers hope of snapping a six-year bowless streak. Do that they did!

It was a beautiful night to be in Pullman and I have missed many of the best ones. From GameDay last year to the crushing of Stanford last week to this thriller, I made the five+ hour journey to the Palouse for three of the Cougs’ six home games; New Mexico State, UCLA, and Colorado. Do not get me wrong, I loved my time in Martin Stadium this year, but it wasn’t enough. I needed more. This big win for the Cougs made me realize how proud I am to be a Washington State Cougars fan!

I’ll be honest, in a way I kind of wanted the underdog in this game just to see the Beavers go to their first bowl game in six years, but now I can sit back and have hope for the Cougs in the Apple Cup while watching Oregon State pretty much get crushed by Oregon in the Civil War.

The Apple Cup... yeah let’s get that out of the way!

Both teams go into this game with the same record. The Huskies are coming off a disappointing loss to Colorado, a team we beat down pretty hard. Washington also has an ugly loss to Stanford; a team we crushed as well. Is home-field advantage the simple reason why these scenarios went down? I’m going to have to say no!

This year, I believe we have a chance in Seattle! I won’t promise a win, but hopefully it’s a close game. There’s no reason it shouldn’t be, we’re evenly matched.

I’ll end with a plea for all Cougar fans to stop the whole negativity thing about the Apple Cup. Remember a couple things. One. Bowl Eligibility is locked! We are going bowling even if it’s a lame one like Cheez-It or Vegas. Two. Washington has struggled this year and has gone 3-3 at home on the season with their only home conference win coming from USC. Three. We are riding high and don’t really have much to look ahead too. Let’s continue our hype train and pull it into our first road Apple Cup victory since 2007 where we have gone 1-10 since that win and prove that this Cougars team has made improvements after its ugly losses to UCLA, Utah, Arizona State, Oregon, and Cal. Four. We nearly BEAT Oregon on the road and that is the mindset that the Cougs need if they want to be on the right side of that and make this Oregon 2 except for one major thing... WE WIN!!!

Hell week is a very good name to give to this week that all Cougar fans dread. I believe this is the year. I believe this is the year we win the Apple Cup. I believe this is the year we do it. Let’s go Cougs!!!
