HCA: Cougar baseball makes changes to home opener against Nevada

With snow in the forecast, the Cougars and Wolfpack will now play in Nevada

WSU Athletic Communications

Washington State baseball announced on Monday that their four game home-opening series against Nevada that was scheduled for this weekend will now be a three game series at Don Weir field at Peccole Park in Reno, Nevada starting on Thursday.

The Pullman forecast, which calls for snow the rest of the week, is the reasoning behind the change. The two schools had recently agreed to a home-and-home series with the Cougars planning to head down to Reno in 2020. Instead, both schools agreed to swap those dates and the Wolfpack will now come to Pullman next season instead.

Nevada (6-1) is off to a hot start this season as their only loss came against Utah in the Texas State Tournament. The Cougars (2-6) on the other hand are going in the opposite direction as their two wins came in their past series against Santa Clara as they split the four game series.

The three game series kicks off Thursday and will finish up on Saturday afternoon. All three games are scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.

The Cougars new home opener is now scheduled for Friday, March 8th against California State Northridge at 4:05 PM. It will be their first and only time in Pullman until March 29th when they kick off conference play against Stanford.
