HCA: Klay Thompson could have a role in ‘Space Jam 2’

Space Jam 2 is scheduled to come out in 2021

NBA: Finals-Golden State Warriors at Toronto Raptors Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

While it is unknown where Klay Thompson will be playing basketball next season there have been reports that the Golden State Warriors star will be joining LeBron James on the big screen. Jason McIntyre of Fox Sports reported that Thompson is ‘locked in’ for the long awaited sequel ‘Space Jam 2’ that is scheduled to come out in 2021.

Thompson, who is set to be a free agent after this season has also been rumored to join James in Los Angeles playing for the Lakers if the Warriors offer is not what he wants. His father, Mychal won two titles with the Lakers from 1987-91 and is now the radio color commentator for the team.

With players like Steph Curry, James Harden, and Giannis Antetokounmpo declining a role in the movie is was said that James was having a hard time finding other top-NBA players to play alongside him in the film. Thompson has said before that he was a big fan of the original so it is no surprise that he would be willing to jump on the opportunity to participate in the sequel. McIntyre said he believes that an announcement will come after the conclusion of the NBA Finals.

If the rumors about Thompson are true he would join Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Larry Bird, Muggsy Bogues and a few others as NBA players to make an appearance in the Warner Brothers and Looney Toons series.

Oh, and by the way: Klay was money last night in his regular recurring role — the one where he’s a stud basketball player in real life. He scored 26 points as the Warriors staved off elimination at the hands of the Toronto Raptors in the Finals, including a big-time three ball to give his team the lead:

The Warriors return to Oakland for game six on Thursday trailing 3-2 in the best-of-seven series.
