The Washington State Cougars landed their second running back commit for the 2020 season on Monday evening when Marshawn Buchanan committed to the program via Twitter. The three-star running back out of Adelanto High School in Adelanto, California, chose the Cougs over Arizona.

Standing at 5-foot-11 and 178 pounds, Buchanan seems inclined to look for the hole and beat the defense with his speed.

As a junior he tallied up 2,137 yards and 18 touchdowns on 181 carries, averaging almost 153 yards per game on the ground. He also added another 47 yards on 5 receptions and averaged more than 25 yards in his 5 kickoff returns. He helped lead his team to a 13-2 season where they would drop the 6-AA So-Cal regional final.

Buchanan held offers from the Arizona Wildcats, BYU Cougars, Oregon State Beavers, Utah State Aggies, and Nevada Wolf Pack, among a few others. It was announced earlier this year that his choice was down to Arizona and Washington State and after taking just one visit to Pullman he decided this is where he has the best chance to showcase his talent.

He joins Jyden King in the 2020 class; King is a 6-foot/205-pound runner, and their styles should complement each other well.
