HCA: Checking in on Andre Dillard

Dillard seems to be making friends with his teammates

NFL: Preseason-Tennessee Titans at Philadelphia Eagles Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Andre Dillard has been impressing those in Philadelphia so far and he seems to be making himself right at home in the city of Brotherly Love... until it comes to loving your brother as he found himself at the root of a fight during the Eagles practice on Monday.

During a light practice with just shells, Dillard’s intensity got the best of him as he threw a block on safety Johnathan Cyprien who got up off the ground and had to be held back from chasing Dillard. That block would eventually set off defensive end Derek Barnett a few plays later during a red zone drill.

Barnett went after Dillard following a touchdown pass by quarterback Carson Wentz and the two would go after it and required the team to get together to break it up. It wasn’t quite finished there however as Barnett, who still seemed heated, drove Dillard back into the quarterback a few plays later. The two would sit out for a few minutes and calm down before head coach Doug Pederson and the Eagles general manager would talk to them each separately before making the two hug it out and squash whatever was going on between the two. An emotional Dillard was caught on camera before he would put on his helmet to block the reporters from seeing his face.

Dillard saw his first bit of action in the NFL during the Eagles loss to the Tennessee Titans last week. He saw 33 snaps against both the starters and the backups of the Titans and didn’t allow any pressure to the quarterback while also showing the traits of a guy who has been in the league for a few years.

Dillard and the Eagles will look to secure their first pre-season win on Thursday as they head to Jacksonville to take on Gardner Minshew and the Jaguars.
