One of the great things about the opening of fall camp for the Washington State Cougars is that Mike Leach gives the media a ton of access in the first couple of weeks. That means that there’s a fair amount of substantial reporting flowing out of Lewiston, which in turn means that we actually have some honest-to-goodness football developments to discuss!
Show rundown for this week’s Podcast Vs. Everyone:
- Small talk/beer: Jeff goes for some fruit in his beverage (courtesy of Matchless Brewing) while Craig brought an IPA back from his homeland of Yakima (courtesy of Wandering Hop).
- Fall camp (12:00ish): The Cougs are in the midst of their annual stint in Lewiston, and there’s been a bit of news to trickle out, including developments at safety and Y receiver. There are also some position swaps taking place, and James Williams made a cameo at practice.
- Mike Leach (38:00ish): After briefly wondering what kinds of razors coach uses, we move on toLeach’s eventful camp, whether talking about cargo shorts or belly flopping in the pool.
- Ahmed Ali (59:00ish): The erstwhile starting point guard appears to finally have left for good. Yawn?
- Gardner Minshew (1:07:00ish): He’s No. 2 on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ depth chart. Yay! (Note: Minshew’s NFL debut isn’t actually on NFL Network on Thursday, as we said in the podcast. It won’t be rebroadcast on NFL Network until 2:30 a.m. PT on Sunday. Sorry!)
Fair warning — we do use naughty words from time to time.
You’ll probably hate it. We don’t care.
