We’ve been waiting quite a while after initial reports of this surfaced months ago but we’ve now got confirmation: HBO will be following the Washington State Cougars for a special they call “24/7 College Football”. The network announced today that they’ll be in Pullman the week of homecoming against the Colorado Buffaloes with the show airing on Wednesday, October 23rd at 10 p.m.
Though we don’t know the exact format of the show, expect a deep-dive in, a la the Hard Knocks style. WSU’s is one of four schools HBO will be following, with the others being the Florida Gators, Penn State Nittany Lions and Arizona State Sun Devils, in that order.
“For many years, we have been enamored with the storylines and unrivaled traditions of college football, and we’re excited for the opportunity to expand the 24/7 franchise into the realm of college sports,” Rick Bernstein, executive producer, HBO Sports said in a release. “Viewers will feel the tremendous electricity of some of the best atmospheres in the country, and see the meticulous preparation and challenges facing these programs in the build-up to gameday and during the game action.”
In a cool twist for WSU, HBO will actually be following ASU the week they play the Cougs. Although it won’t be as thorough coverage wise as the week WSU gets dedicated to it, they’ll be featured at least somewhat in one show and have another all to themselves. That show will air exactly one week prior.
