Three bold predictions for Washington State vs. Northern Colorado

Welcome back to Cougar Football Saturday! Last week went well, and more is expected this week. Your Washington State Cougars welcome the Northern Colorado Bears of the Big Sky Conference. If you thought last weekend’s beating of New Mexico State was bad, it might be worse this weekend. The Bears were picked to finish last in the Big Sky by the media and the coaches, and it wasn’t even close. Bill Connelly’s SP+ ranks Northern Colorado no. 92....IN ALL OF FCS!

So, what do you want to see from the Cougs today? Glad you asked, because Jeff and Craig talked about it on Podcast vs. Everybody this week.

Anthony Gordon should have another excellent day, Max Borghi should get himself some touches and yards, and fans should expect touchdowns galore. The defense? It wants a shutout.

Three Bold Predictions

  1. Washington State will drop 80 on the Bears
  2. Three Washington State quarterbacks will toss touchdowns
  3. Clay Markoff will score two touchdowns

A Mike Leach-coached team last dropped 80 in 2005, when the Texas Tech Red Raiders scored 80 against Sam Houston State. WSU has yet to score 70 in the Leach era, but let’s do one better.

Also, we saw two WSU quarterbacks throw touchdowns last weekend, with a third quarterback completing a pass. Let’s up the ante again and have three quarterbacks throw for a touchdown. Do I hear four?

Markoff didn’t score last weekend like I wanted, but we’re going bolder and saying he’ll score twice today.

Enjoy the 2 p.m. kickoff everybody, and good luck finding the game on TV!

Will Rodgers III wasn’t making any early predictions or forecasting what would happen when WSU faces UNC when the junior defensive tackle sat behind a microphone after a 58-7 win over NMSU and guaranteed someway, somehow this season, the Cougars would leave an opponent staring at a goose egg on the scoreboard at the end of four quarters.
