The WSU coaching search rolls on

November 28, 2011 was the very last time we woke up on a Monday morning where Mike Leach isn’t the head coach at Washington State. That means this is also the first Monday of the new coaching search. It also means today could be the last time we wake in the morning without knowing who the head coach is.

Rumors have been swirling since the second Leach’s departure was announced and WSU’s job opened. It sounds like Alex Grinch will not be returning to WSU, according to CougFan. And looking around the internet, there is a common theme to the names being tossed around most, one of which is Hawaii head coach Nick Rolovich. Rolovich led the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors to 10 victories in 2019. That double-digit victory season came a year after leading the team to eight wins in 2018. Winning 18 games over the course of two seasons at Hawaii represents a massive change from where that program was. Hawaii had won just 11 games in the four seasons prior to hiring Rolovich.

Whether Rolovich is who Pat Chun chooses to replace Mike Leach at WSU remains to be seen. Seemingly a decision will be announced sooner rather than later considering it’s already January. Until then, we will just have to wait and see.
