New Washington State head coach Nick Rolovich isn’t wasting anytime filling out his staff. Less than a week on the job, Rolovich has apparently already found his defensive coordinator, hiring Jake Dickert from Wyoming. Dickert is bringing two coaches along with him.

Dickert just finished his first season as defensive coordinator at Wyoming, guiding the Cowboys to the No. 11 scoring defense in the country at 17.6 points per game. Dickert has coached under Craig Bohl at both Wyoming and North Dakota State. He also has experience coaching defensive backs.
AJ Cooper would seemingly be in line to be the defensive line coach, while John Richardson appears to be set to be the defensive backs coach. Both have spent the last six seasons at Wyoming. The 2017 Wyoming defense forced 38 turnovers, the most in the country, including 20 interceptions. For comparison, that same year, the Cougars forced 28 turnovers under Alex Grinch.
Here is more on who the Wyoming defense profiled last season under Dickert.

Dickert’s Wyoming defense was excellent in the redzone, allowing touchdowns on just 69% of the time, No. 6 in the country.
WSU is yet to officially announce the hire, or any of the new staff, but it appears to be taking shape quite quickly.
