Washington State sophomore forward CJ Elleby was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week on Monday capping what was an incredible week for not only the basketball team, but the university. The award is the first for him and the first for an underclassman for the Cougars basketball team since Klay Thompson won it in 2009. Robert Franks is the last to earn the award and did so in 2019 as a senior after a sweep of the Arizona schools.

Elleby began his week helping lead the Cougars to a 72-61 victory over #8 Oregon. He put up 25 points going 4 of 7 from behind the arc and was 100% from the line. He added a career high 14 rebounds as well as a steal. His performance helped the Cougs secure their first victory over a top-10 school since 2007.
Then on Saturday against Oregon State in front of a crowd of 10,380 at Beasley Coliseum including Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, and Zaza Pachulia, Elleby added 22 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and went 6-6 from the free throw line. The 89-76 victory over the Beavers secured the Cougars first home sweep over the Oregon schools since 2011.
His 47 points and 23 rebounds over the weekend helped cap a fantastic week for the Cougars with two massive victories at home. He and the rest of the Cougars will look to continue the success this upcoming weekend as they head to Colorado on Thursday and Utah on Saturday before returning home to face the Arizona schools the following weekend.
