It wasn’t long ago that Stanford week for Washington State was an absolute nightmare. The Cardinal were a power football buzzsaw and would slowly wear down the Cougars before chewing them up in the second half.
Who could forget Stanford’s 55-17 beatdown victory in 2013 that blessed the internet with Popcorn Guy.
Well, things have been a lot different in recent seasons. The Cougars will enter the game on Saturday riding a four-game winning streak against the Cardinal. The streak would be five straight had an Erik Powell field goal attempt not sailed wide right in the final seconds in 2015.
It’s still a long wait until we see if the 2020 Cougs can make it five straight, especially with an 8 p.m. kickoff. To pass the time let’s look back at the last four.
2019: Cougs win 49-22
2018: Cougs win 41-38
2017: Cougs win 24-21
2016: Cougs win 42-16
