It has been 126 days since the Pac-12 initially announced it was cancelling the 2020 football season. It’s been 82 days since the conference announced the regular season was back on. It has been an eventful 82 days.
That regular season will presumably come to an end on Saturday with WSU traveling to face Utah. It’s also fully possible WSU’s regular season ended 10 days ago with a loss to USC. At this point, after what we’ve seen this season, you can’t be too certain of anything until the ball is kicked off.
The Pac-12 announced the six matchups for the final week on Sunday. Shortly thereafter, it announced the first cancellation with the game between Cal and Arizona getting called off. It would hardly be a shock to see another game, or two, or three or four get cancelled. Washington’s game last week was cancelled against Oregon due to Covid issues. Those issues tend to last for at least two weeks, so that situation seems very precarious.
For WSU, the Cougars appear to be in good shape to play, pending any new Covid issues. They were clear for kickoff against Cal on Saturday. On the other side, Utah was able to play its game this weekend. The Utes have had three games cancelled this season, two of which due to opponent’s Covid issues and one due to the Utes’ issues.
Kickoff on Saturday is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. so we should know for sure whether the Cougars are playing or not at roughly 10:29 a.m.
