The Kentwood corner was originally committed to Arizona

With signing day just a day away, Nick Rolovich landed his second commit in as many days on Monday night with Alphonse Oywak. The four-star cornerback out of Kentwood High School announced his commitment on Monday evening via twitter after decommitting from Arizona. He joins cornerback Chau Smith as the only two commits under the new head football coach.

Oywak stands at 6-foot-3 and 180-pounds and helped lead his high school into the WIAA 4A state playoffs as a two way player. On defense he hauled in four interceptions and five fumble recoveries during his senior year. He doubled as their leading receiver and caught 27 catches for 550 yards and six touchdowns.

After originally committing to the Wildcats back in July of 2019, Oywak stuck it out but didn’t sign on the early signing day after Arizona moved on from their defensive coordinator. Rolovich moved in and offered shortly after becoming the new head coach of the Cougars and then visited him for an in-home and this past weekend hosted Oywak in Pullman.

ESPN and Rivals have him listed as a 3-star prospect but 247 Sports has him listed as a 4-star and the 17th ranked cornerback in the nation for 2020. They also have him listed as the eighth best prospect in Washington.

Outside of Arizona and Washington State; Utah State, Air Force, Boise State, Oregon State and a few others also offered him.
