Washington State head women’s basketball coach Kamie Ethridge announced the signing of Johanna Teder on Monday, officially wrapping up the 2020 recruiting class. The Cougars signed four women this recruiting class, all of whom are international and will be looking to make up what the three seniors who graduated this season contributed to the team.
Originally from Tartu, Estonia, Teder spent the past season at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas where she was named to the All-Western Junior College Athletic Conference first team. She averaged nearly 8 points per game and shot just under 47% from the field in her 33 games there - 14 of which she started.
Prior to her time in Texas she was at Audentese Spordigumnaasium in Tallin, Estonia. During her final two years there she averaged 8.7 points and 4.9 assists per game. She also was apart of the Estonia Women’s basketball national youth league as well as a member of the 2018 U18 National Women’s Basketball team in 2018.
While she spent most of her time as a point guard, Ethridge says she “has the ability to play all three guard positions” she also added that “she fits perfectly with what we are after in our guard game.”
The three other members of the 2020 recruiting class are Jessica Clarke out of Canada, Ekin Celikdemir from Turkey, and Charlisse Leger-Walker from New Zealand - she is the younger sister of current redshirt-senior Krystal.
Going into the draft, us Coug Fans thought that two of our guys had a good chance of getting drafted. Those two were Anthony Gordon and Dezmon Patmon. Out of those two, one got the call, leaving the other, and the cougar community, stunned.
On Monday, April 27, Washington State women’s basketball head coach Kamie Ethridge announced the addition of Johanna Teder out of South Plains College to complete the 2020 signing class for the Cougars.
