Wide receiver Orion Peters commits to Washington State, the Cougs’ first 2021 pledge

Earlier this week, The Spokesman-Review ran a story on WSU’s lack of 2021 commitments. WSU was only one of two Power 5 schools to have an empty list of commitments....until now. Orion Peters, a 5-10 wide receiver out of Inglewood, Calif., announced last night he has committed to WSU, becoming the Cougs’ first 2021 football commit.

For those who care about these things, it appears this is the new bat signal.

Peters is a three-star recruit and is rated .8265 by 247 Sports. He also has Power 5 offers from Arizona State, Kansas and Virginia Tech. He also has eight offers from Group of 5 schools, including Fresno State, Colorado State and Floria Atlantic.

Based on the video, it looks like Peters uses his speed to outrun defenders and would seem to fit nicely in Nick Rolovich’s Run-And-Shoot offense:

With Peters on board, the Arizona Wildcats are the lone Power 5 team without a 2021 commitment.

WSU’s spring evaluation process may have been knocked off course by COVID-19 and the recruiting dead period that came with it, but 247Sports.com national recruiting editor Brandon Huffman assured The Spokesman-Review earlier this week the Cougars were still making good headway on the 2021 class, even if they didn’t have a commit to show for it.
